Valerie Vaz MP has backed Usdaw, in their call for respect for retail workers, after they released preliminary survey results that show over one million shopworkers were assaulted, threatened or verbally abused in the last twelve months.

Valerie raised the issue of the continued detention of the Burmese Democracy Movement leader, Aung San Sui Kyi at Prime Minister’s Questions on 15th September 2010, urging the Government to make continued representations to set her free.  Daw Aung San Sui Kyi remains under the house arrest she was placed in by the Burmese Military Junta.

Valerie joined the debate on health issues at the Labour Party Conference in Manchester.
