Following a successful small grant application to Walsall Green Spaces in July 2020 by Bob Winkle Chair of The Friends of Merrion’s Wood, a grant of £100 was given by Christine McCreery from Walsall Green Spaces.
As a result of the generous grant together with an earlier donation from South Staffs Water Bob was pleased to be able to fund the purchase of twenty bird nesting boxes. These will be installed alongside the existing bat boxes on the woodland trees during the autumn by members of the Friends Group, and I will be joining them.
Rev. Martin Rutter of St. Margaret’s Church Great Barr arranged the manufacture of these high-quality nesting boxes which will be put to good use by the numerous variety of bird species in the woodland for very many years to come.
