Labour street stalls in Darlaston and Walsall Town Centres

“It was wonderful to meet so many local residents on Saturday at the Labour Street Stalls in Walsall Town Centre and Darlaston Town Centre. I was with former Cllr Bill Madeley, Cllr Keith Chambers, Cllr Ian Robertson and Cllr Doug James on the stall.”

“I talked to local people about a range of issues from the NHS, non doms, and local government.”

“Labour will invest an extra £2.5 billion in the NHS and create a Time to Care Fund. This Fund will be used to train, recruit and fund 20,000 more nurses, 8,000 more GPs, 5,000 new homecare workers and 3,000 more midwives. With the increase in the number of GPs, Labour will guarantee a GP appointment with 48 hours. This will reduce the stress placed on A&Es which is seeing the number of patients waiting over four hours at its highest for a decade.”

“A Labour government, following the 2015 General Election, would implement a Finance Bill that will clamp down on tax avoidance and evasion. It will include measures to close loopholes used for tax avoidance, increase transparency and bring in tough deterrents.”

“People raised the Bedroom Tax. I reiterated that it is cruel and unfair- Labour will scrap it. The average family paying the tax is losing £720 a year – money they can ill afford.”

“Labour have a plan to back Britain’s small businesses and unleash the full potential of these businesses to create more good jobs and so raise living standards for working people across the country. Labour will freeze businesses rates for 1.5 million small business properties with a rateable value of less than £50,000. Labour’s plan means the tax burden on small businesses will be reduced.”

“Labour’s have made five pledges which are:

1 A Strong Economic Foundation

2 Higher Living Standards For Working Families

3 An NHS With The Time To Care

4 Controls On Immigration

5 A Country Where The Next Generation Can Do Better Than The Last”
