Meeting with Residents on the Nether Hall Estate

I held a meeting at Great Barr War Memorial Hall on Saturday 19 January 2019 to hear residents’ concerns about the Netherhall Park Estate. Residents told me about snagging issues in their homes, the state of public landscaping across the estate and the difficulties they have had with maintenance and repair from Bovis Homes and the management company SDL Bigwood.

The Council enforce planning conditions and I asked the Council what they were doing about the enforcing the conditions made by the Inspector at the Public Inquiry. The Council could not answer but said that they would undertake a review of the estate’s planning history. The Council initially said this review would be outsourced but the Council later said this review will be conducted in-house. The Council said the review will be completed at the end of January.

After the meeting I visited homes to see the issues that residents had described. I have written to the Planning Inspectorate about the enforcement of planning conditions. I shall also be writing to the National House Building Council about their 10 year build mark warranty which should still cover all homes built on the Netherhall Estate. However the snagging issues are still to be resolved.
