North Walsall Primary visited Parliament on Wednesday 17 June 2026. Despite a delayed arrival as a result of traffic, the children managed a quick tour and a visit to the House of Commons Chamber.
They returned to the Education Centre where I spoke about my work in Parliament and the constituency. It is only since the redrawn boundaries and the General Election in 2024 that I have represented North Walsall.
With the backdrop of a virtual Chamber, I explained how MPs have to catch the eye of the Speaker to be called in debates and questions. So the children “bobbed” and asked questions and made speeches when I called them Hon members. When one of the students said they could not hear what was going on in the Chamber, I said I would send them the “Hansard” which is the Official Report of words spoken in the Chamber.
I hope to visit the school soon.
