Question During Ministerial Statement on India and Pakistan

Many around the world and my constituents in Walsall and Bloxwich from both countries were alarmed on 7 May 2025 to hear of the India’s strikes on Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir following the attacks on tourists in Pahalgam.  It was vital that the matter was brought to the House. During the Ministerial Statement from Hamish Falconer MP, Minister for the Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan I was able to ask the following question:

“I thank the Minister for coming to the House so soon. Could he confirm when he or his Department last met the ambassadors of India and Pakistan, and will he ensure that the dialogue continues with them?”

Mr Falconer: “I can confirm to my hon. Friend that the dialogue will continue. Of course, the Prime Minister was in touch with Prime Minister Modi just yesterday, and I was with the Pakistani Finance Minister and, indeed, the Pakistani high commissioner in London just an hour or two ago.”

I am aware the the Minister Catherine West, responsible for Asia met with the Indian High Commissioner.
