Save Our Libraries

Valerie joined local residents of all ages at a ‘Save Our Libraries’ event at Pleck Library on Saturday 5th February 2011.  All around the country library users gathered to protest about cuts to library services and library closures.

It was no different at Pleck Library, where children and adults joined in a ‘Save Our Libraries’ event to protest against Library closures in Walsall and highlight their support for their local library in Pleck.  The children had obviously enjoyed themselves making posters and placards to help make their point.  Community activists from the Neighbourhood Watch scheme, and local resident Shabir Hussain had contacted Valerie to ask for her support for the local residents’ campaign.

Valerie joined the protesters outside the library, who included local Pleck Councillor Dennis Anson, and the vicar of St. John’s Church, Gennie Evans.  It was standing room only inside the library as everyone made the most of the books and other facilities – something that the residents of Pleck are determined they will be able to continue to enjoy in Pleck Library for many years to come.
