Sir David Amess Children’s Parliament

Sir David Amess MP was tragically murdered. He was a passionate champion of children and democracy and believed children should be encouraged to participate in democracy at an early age and their voices heard within our democratic institutions.

The event commemorated the 5th Anniversary of his death. 100 Child MPs aged 9-11 from primary schools across all four nations of the UK together with the Children’s Commonwealth Choir came to Westminster to experience Parliament.

The choir sang “the Democracy Song” and then the children went to Committee Room 14 to debate:

“That this Children’s Parliament has considered how schools can better hear and respond to the voices of the children with disabilities.”
