St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School Visit

I visited St Joseph’s Catholic Primary School, Rough Hay Road Darlaston as part of Parliament Week on Friday 9 December. The pupils asked me questions about the House of Commons and the House of Lords.

I explained how a Bill progresses through both chambers. I talked about the different ways I hold the Government to account such as through Adjournment Debates and I can ask questions to the Minister which can be about local, national, or international issues. One question was about why I went into politics. I said I wanted to help people. At my surgeries constituents come to me about various issues such as housing, the environment, and traffic. I write letters for my constituents and get a result for them.

Year 6 had some searching questions and were reading A Christmas Carol which is a great book. I wished them well for their choices of secondary school next year.
