The Global Sumud Flotilla which was on a humanitarian mission to Gaza to provide Aid was intercepted on 2 October 2025 with activists including my constituent Sijaad Hussain on board.
I was contacted by the family of my constituent Mr Sijaad Hussain on 2 October 2025 when the boat “All In” was intercepted and soon as I heard that Mr Hussain’s boat was intercepted I contacted the Foreign and Commonwealth and Development Office (FCDO) immediately to raise Mr Hussain’s case.
As a British Citizen the FCDO offer consular services to British citizens aboard. Once it was confirmed Mr Hussain was a British citizen, I remained in contact with the FCDO and Mr Hussain’s family. I was able to report to the family and supporters that Mr Hussain was no longer detained and on his way home on Saturday 4 October 2025.
I would like to thank Minister Hamish Falconer MP, Minister for Middle East, North Africa, Afghanistan and Pakistan, for ensuring the safe return of Mr Hussain.
