Tackling the stigma around smear tests

I support the campaign by Cllr Maria Alexandrou, Cllr Dinah Barry and Vicki Pite to tackle the stigma around cervical cancer smear tests.

Over 3000 women in the UK each year are diagnosed with cervical cancer, resulting in 850 deaths. That’s more than 2 women a day dying from the disease. By raising the number of women who go for their smear test, we can save lives.

According to Cancer Research UK, 99.8% of cases are preventable. Please see the campaign poster, the website can be found here and contact your GP for more information.
