Valerie supports Friends of St Augustine’s Church

On Tuesday 25 November 2014, Valerie attended a reception hosted by Laura Sandys MP in the Speaker’s House supporting the proposed Pugin and St Augustine, Education, Research, and Visitor Centre in Ramsgate.

Valerie said:

“The Church of St Augustine in Ramsgate was designed by Augustus Pugin. Pugin himself described the building as the ‘ideal church’, built in accordance with his ‘true principles of Christian architecture’ and it is the place where he is buried. The Church was constructed between 1845 and 1852 next to Pugin’s home. Pugin designed the interior of the Palace of Westminster.”

“The Friends of St Augustine support the restoration and repair of St Augustin’s and its associated buildings, as well as promoting greater awareness of its architectural and historical importance for all people.”
