I attended the launch of the environmental charity Keep Britain Tidy’s annual campaign ‘Great British Spring Clean’ in Parliament on 24 January 2018.
The ‘Great British Spring Clean’ is a national campaign which takes place on 2-4 March 2018. The campaign aims to bring communities all over the country together to give their neighbourhoods a spring clean, by clearing litter and rubbish from public paths and spaces.
I have raised with the Council a number of concerns regarding litter and fly-tipping in Walsall. According to Keep Britain Tidy, more than 300,000 people were involved in the campaign last year and a staggering 70,000 wheelie bins of rubbish was collected over one weekend.
I support the ‘Great British Spring Clean’ campaign and I would like to encourage residents, schools and businesses to sign up now and get involved: www.keepbritaintidy.org/gbspringclean.
Littering is a serious issue that blights our towns, villages, countryside and beaches. It also has a devastating effect on our wildlife.
