I visited the Guru Nanak Gurdwara in Caldmore on Sunday 14 September 2025 to speak to the Trustees and I was also able to speak to the congregation following the horrific attack on a young Sikh woman who was subjected to racial abuse by 2 men who sexually assaulted her. This young woman was on her way to work. She is part of this country but was told to “go back”. I mentioned I had already written to the National Security Minister , Dan Jarvis MP to ask to extend the palces of worship finding to Gurdwaras who have been refused in the past as a result of this attack.
This young woman must be supported and she is being supported by the Sikh community who have put up a £10,000 reward for any information that will help the Police in their inquiries.
We all have to work together to ensure that the equalities legislation is a reality and we stand with all those who are racially abused and discriminated against. The Sikh community has played its part in public services , the NHS with doctors, legal services, teachers and make a contribution to society.
We have to fight against hate and injustice.
