Valerie votes to recognise the state of Palestine.

On Monday 13 October 2014, Valerie voted for the motion to recognise Palestine as a state.

The motion was:

“That this House believes that the Government should recognise the state of Palestine alongside the state of Israel, as a contribution to securing a negotiated two state solution.”

Valerie said:

“I was pleased that the motion passed 274 votes to 12. A number of my constituents contacted me about this issue. In 2012 the United Nations voted overwhelmingly to grant Palestine Non-Member Observer State Status of the UN. This vote in Parliament adds to the growing recognition that there must be progress with negotiations for a peaceful two state solution.”
