Valerie wins Health & Wellbeing competition

The Parliamentary Health and Wellbeing Service held a very valuable day on the 23 February 2016  to raise awareness of their services to promote health and well being.  There was a multiple choice questionnaire and I  was delighted to be informed that I had won a First Aid kit grab bag. The picture shows Sally presenting me with the bag in front of a bust of  Labour Secretary of State for Health, Nye Bevan who founded the NHS.

The Service provides advice and proactive support for good health at work, including guidance on returning to work after a sickness absence, and for those experiencing personal difficulties or a long term health condition. Support is also available to help give up smoking and for alcohol related issues, and for any staff with disabilities.

The day was being held to raise awareness around health issues, such as diabetes and depression, and encourage MPs and their staff to eat healthily and improve fitness. There was also information about blood donation, local charities, mindfulness, and Westminster Gym.

The prize was courtesy of the Parliamentary Health & Wellbeing team, and I would like to thank everyone who helped put the day together. It has encouraged me to renew my First Aid training.
