I responded to the Business Statement on Tuesday 21 April 2020, as Parliament returned from an extended Easter recess due to the coronavirus lockdown. You can read my full speech below:

On Tuesday 21 April 2020, I responded to two Government motions: on proceedings during the pandemic and on hybrid scrutiny proceedings. These motions allow Parliament to take an unprecedented step towards “semi-virtual” proceedings. Up to 120 MPs are now able to participate in the House of Commons remotely for the first time in the chamber’s 700-year history. You can read my full speech below:
