I called for an emergency debate in Parliament to be held on Monday 17 July on the lack of Commons business under the rules of Standing Order No. 24 (SO24). SO24 is a rule that allows an MP to ask the Speaker to allow time for an emergency debate on a particular topic. Below is my speech:

Valerie welcomes inquiry into contaminated blood

The government’s announcement of an inquiry into the NHS contaminated blood scandal is long overdue. It has been over 45 years since people were first infected with hepatitis and HIV from NHS-supplied contaminated blood and blood products, which caused 2, 400 deaths.

Valerie visits Manor Hospital to launch the new Gamma Camera

I visited Walsall Manor Hospital to see the new state of the art Gamma Camera on Friday 7 July 2017. The new camera will help in the treatment of cancer and other conditions. I met with Richard Kirby, the Chief Executive of Walsall Healthcare Trust, representatives of Walsall’s League of Friends, and staff from the imaging unit.
