His Majesty King Charles III attended a ceremony in Westminster Hall on Monday 12 September 2022 as a long standing tradition of communication between the Sovereign and Parliament.
On 9 September the House of Commons sat to pay tribute to Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth.
I had the privilege of meeting Her late Majesty a number of times, and shared my experiences as part of my tribute speech.
At an Urgent Question on 7 September 2022, the Foreign Secretary was asked to make a statement on Jagtar Singh Johal. In May 2022, the UN work group on arbitrary detention published its opinion that Mr Johal is arbitrarily detained.
I have signed a letter to the new Prime Minister, Liz Truss, calling on her Government to make supporting aviation, travel and tourism a priority. The letter was written by the All-Party Parliamentary Group for the Future of Aviation.
At an Urgent Question on 6 September 2022, the Environment Secretary was asked to make a statement on sewage outflows into waterways and onto beaches.
I have written to Walsall Council to express my continuing concerns about the development of a Battery Storage facility on Chapel Lane. Whilst I am fully aware of the need for more renewable technology and development, I maintain my position that this development would be wholly inappropriate.
I have included my letter to the Council below,
A new site was added to the Black Country Plan which would be situated east of Skip Lane and north of Woodfield Close. In my view the proposed development of 135 houses on the site is in breach of several policies, which includes protecting Green Belt. The ownership of the the land is still unclear I
