Valerie Visits Palfrey Junior School.

Valerie visited Palfrey Junior School to meet with staff and pupils and to find out about the challenges that affect them on a daily basis. She was able to meet with the headteacher, Gary Thornton, as well as several of the school’s prefects. At the end of the visit, some of the pupils took the opportunity to show Valerie their new adventure playground.

Valerie joined local residents of all ages at a ‘Save Our Libraries’ event at Pleck Library on Saturday 5th February 2011. All around the country library users gathered to protest about cuts to library services and library closures.

Valerie meets students at Walsall College

Today, Valerie Vaz MP visited Walsall College where she met students and staff. Valerie was keen to speak with students from Walsall Collge as she had presented a petition against the abolition of the Educational Maintenance Allowance (EMA) signed by hundreds of them to Parliament on 19th January. This was immediately after the House of Commons debate on EMA.

Carbon Monoxide Poisoning

On Tuesday 25th January, Valerie Vaz MP attended an event in Parliament to raise awareness of the deadly threat of Carbon Monoxide Poisioning. New research from the Carbon Monoxide – Be Alarmed! campaign shows that 68% of households in the West Midlands could be at risk of poisoning by not having an audible Carbon Monoxide alarm.

Celebrating success at Alumwell College

On Wednesday 24th November, Valerie Vaz MP for Walsall South attended the Presentation Evening at Alumwell Business and Enterprise College as a special guest. Valerie Vaz MP was pleased to present a variety of awards to the pupils at Alumwell and to celebrate their achievements with them.
