On Friday 17 October 2014 Valerie visited the Walsall Afro-Caribbean Community Centre on Wolverhampton Road for a 'meet and greet' with members.

Valerie has joined with shop workers as part of the Freedom From Fear Campaign, which seeks to prevent violence, threats and abuse that is directed at retail staff. Valerie has pledge to support a protection of workers bill that would introduce a specific offence of assaulting a worker serving the public.
On Thursday 16 October 2014 Valerie published the Second Report into the use of higher rate telephone lines by Government departments.
On Tuesday 14 October 2014, the Health Select Committee, of which Valerie is a member, heard evidence on Integrated Care.
