On Wednesday 20 July 2016, the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs Select Committee of which I am a member off, held an oral evidence session on Future Flood Prevention. The Committee heard evidence from Mr Matt Wrack, General Secretary of the Fire Brigades Union, Dr Thérèse Coffey MP, Parliamentary Under-Secretary of State for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs, and Mr Neil Hornby, Deputy Director of Flood Risk Management for the Department for Environment, Food and Rural Affairs.

On 18 July 2016 the House of Commons debated the Government’s motion to upgrade Britain’s nuclear weapons system by replacing the current Vanguard class submarines with four Successor submarines.

On Saturday 16 July I met with Jamal Hussain the owner of Kashmir Meat & Poultry to offer my support. The butchers was left badly damaged in a fire-bomb attack on Monday 27 June 2016. Mr Hussain escaped injury, but it could have been much more serious. I saw the catastrophic damage that the fire had caused, you could still smell the damage.
