The Finance Bill committee, of which Valerie is a member, met for the final time on Tuesday 17 June 2014. The Bill has now entered the Report stage.
On Friday 13 June 2014, Valerie met with members of the National Union of Teachers from Walsall to hear their concerns about the Government education policies.
On Monday 16 June 2014, Valerie asked the Minister of State for Skills and Enterprise, Matthew Hancock MP, about care leavers' access to apprenticeships.
On Thursday 12 June 2014, Valerie met with Whitehall Junior Community School in Parliament for a Q&A session.
Valerie hosted a Parliamentary Event on Tuesday 10 June 2014 to celebrate the tenure of Professor Lesley Yellowlees as the president of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The event followed the release of the RSC report into chemistry education in schools. The event was also an opportunity to discuss and reflect on diversity in science.
