Lord Chancellor’s Statement on the Human Rights Act.

On the 14 December 2021 the Lord Chancellor came to the House to set out his plans to overhaul the Human Rights Act and replace it with a Bill of Rights. The Lord Chancellor said that the European Convention on Human Rights would not be discarded. It cannot be as the UK have obligations under international law and international treaties. Moreover all the Human Rights Act did was to incorporate in UK law the European Convention.

The National Covid Memorial Wall

On Friday 30 April 2021 I visited the National Covid Memorial Wall, a public mural painted by volunteers to commemorate victims of the Covid-19 pandemic in the UK. The wall is marked with over 150,000 hearts, each one a symbol of a life lost to coronavirus.

Looked after children excellence awards

On Friday 19 October 2018, I attended ‘an excellent night out with the pop stars’ at the Banks Stadium. The event celebrated the achievements of 11-25 children in care and care leavers and each child received an award.
