Valerie has welcomed proposed legislation to tackle metal theft, but says more needs to be done.
On Friday 27th January 2012, Valerie visited the Alucast Aluminium Foundry in Wednesbury, which recently won the contract to produce components for the London 2012 Olympic Relay Torch.
On Tuesday 24 January 2012 Valerie hosted the launch of the E-Bal Programme in the Grand Committee Room, Palace of Westminster. The photograph shows Valerie with Mike Eyre (creator of the programme) and Ken Whittingham (who has co-ordinated the programme in Walsall).
This week the Commonwealth Parlaiamentary Association (CPA) hosted a group of women MPs from the United Republic of Tanzania. Valere was one of a group of MPs who met them.
On Tuesday 24 January 2012 the House of Commons Health Select Committee, of which Valerie Vaz MP is a member, published its latest report into Public Expenditure.
Valerie has written to local schools to encourage them to take part in the Make IT Happy competition for primary school students aged 9-11.
