On Wednesday 28 June 2017 11 new MP's from Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic (BAME) backgrounds took their seats in Parliament. This is an increase of BAME MP's from 41 to 52. Of those, 32 are Labour, 19 Conservatives and one Lib Dem.
The tragedy at Grenfell Tower in Kensington is shocking. I have written to the Chief Executives of Accord Group, Sanctuary Group and Walsall Housing Group to ask about fire safety in buildings they manage in Walsall South.
I support the campaign run by The Reading Agency to encourage all children to take part in this year’s Summer Reading Challenge, which launches across England and Wales on Saturday 15 July 2017.
Jo Cox was a talented and valued colleague and friend. It was an honour to attend the unveiling of a memorial plaque in the House of Commons on Saturday 24 June 2017, near the one year anniversary of her murder. The plaque is a permanent reminder of Jo’s campaigning zeal, energy and love for humanity.
