Valerie hosted a Parliamentary Event on Tuesday 10 June 2014 to celebrate the tenure of Professor Lesley Yellowlees as the president of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC). The event followed the release of the RSC report into chemistry education in schools. The event was also an opportunity to discuss and reflect on diversity
On Tuesday 10 June 2014, Valerie attended a meeting with women members of the Kenyan parliament.
On Monday 9 June 2014, Valerie gave a speech in the House of Commons at the Queen's Speech debate. Valerie called into question the Government’s claims of building a stronger economy and a fairer society.
On Sunday 8 June 2014 Valerie was a guest on the BBC Sunday Politics West Midlands Show. Topics for discussion included the Queen's Speech, Garden Cities, Modern Slavery, the recent Local and European Elections, Fire Service Control Rooms and the Trojan Horse School Controversy.
On Monday 9 June 2014, Valerie Vaz MP, Walsall South, called on the Health Secretary to make insulin patch pumps available to sufferers of Type 1 Diabetes on the NHS. The picture shows Valerie with Grace Ryder at the Fayre on Saturday 7 June 2014.
Valerie attended the Memorial Service for Councillor Tim Oliver, Leader of the Labour Group on Walsall Council, at Walsall Town Hall on Thursday 5 June 2014.
On Thursday 22 May 2014, 20 Walsall Council seats were contested as well as the European elections.
On Sunday 25 May 2014, Valerie presented prizes at the Khalsa Football Federation Tournament.
